FAIRMED is a foundation within the meaning of Art. 80 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Code, founded by the association Leprosy Relief Emmaus Switzerland. Under the new name, it continues all the association’s work plus a wider spectrum and takes over all the association’s assets and commitments. It is affiliated to the Swiss Emmaus association. The organisation is based in Berne.
The foundation was established with the aim of providing neglected people with access to healthcare in line with the Emmaus motto «Serve those most in need». The foundation’s organs are the foundation board and the board of control. Finance for the foundation and its projects is raised through donations and bequests. It is ZEWO-certified.
