At the request of the Nepalese government, FAIRMED has been providing emergency aid for several weeks to approximately 500 families who have been particularly hard hit—a total of about 2,500 people. This aid will continue for at least three months, and we will remain as long as the crisis persists. We are focusing our efforts on those hardest hit by the crisis: young children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, older adults, and people with disabilities. We have been able to prevent the outbreak of diseases by providing hygiene kits, disinfectants, and water treatment measures in schools and health facilities, as well as by conducting educational sessions in schools and for the affected population.
In addition, over the next few weeks we will provide warm clothing to people in need, organize health camps, and support people with disabilities by providing assistive devices and connecting them with appropriate specialized services. We provide children with learning materials, and through educational events we make an important contribution to health promotion.
Ensuring Health Care: Treatment and Safe Childbirth
When the power goes out, operations at a health center often come to a standstill. To ensure that the sick and injured can continue to receive treatment, we provide lighting and power through generators and solar systems. At the same time, we support health facilities with medications and help local health care workers store them safely and distribute them equitably so that they reach exactly where they are needed. With medical equipment—including suction devices, blood pressure monitors, and stretchers—we ensure that expectant mothers can give birth safely even under these difficult conditions.
At the same time, we care for those for whom every day without treatment can be life-threatening. Thanks to FAIRMED, 58 patients with diabetes, high blood pressure, or lung disease are once again receiving their vital medications on a regular basis.

Psychosocial Support
The flood has also taken a psychological toll on many of those affected. Children, in particular, are suffering from the trauma of their experiences, such as sleep disturbances and anxiety. Many adults have lost loved ones and face an uncertain future. So far, we have provided psychosocial support to 389 people, including 250 children, in emergency shelters and schools.
